Moses suffered disaster because Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, hardened his heart and broke his promises to Moses one after another.
...The disaster spread throughout Egypt, and I think the Egyptians were truly terrified of Moses and his God.
...Exodus 12:36 says, "As the Israelites were leaving Egypt, the Egyptians gave them silver and gold and clothing as a token of their favor."

...There's also a tradition that when the Israelites were escaping Egypt, the Egyptians (especially the Egyptian princesses) viewed them favorably and gave them their treasures (gold and silver, etc.) to help them escape.

When Moses trusted in God and obeyed Him, God made him great.
