The Book of Esther is a story about a woman named Esther, but the words "God" or "Lord" never appear.
... Esther lived in the royal palace, concealing her Jewish identity.
One day, Haman, a servant of the king, advised the king to "exterminate the Jews, a people who do not obey the king's commands," and the king did just that, issuing an order to exterminate the Jews.
... Mordecai, lamenting the fate of the Jews, asked Queen Esther to persuade the king.
The scripture verse we hear today is what Mordecai said at that time.
... In life, things happen that make us think, "Why am I going through this now...😭"...
... I think it depends on whether we have the courage to fulfill the role we are given at that time.
... Esther, in verse 16, made the decision to go before the king with the resolve, "If I must die, then I will die."
Esther herself was prepared to sacrifice her own life at this point 😱
...I believe that Esther's prayer, a prayer of her willingness to sacrifice her own life, moved the king's heart.
